The design philosophy behind Hannover Re is rooted in the idea of holistic design in the workplace. The project aims to benefit both employees and businesses in a sustainable way, improving employee wellbeing, fostering collaboration, and expressing the organization's brand identity. The design team aspired to reshape the way people think about human-centered work environments, creating a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Spanning across 30,000 square-feet over two storeys, Hannover Re is a modern office with a curvy and sleek interior that exudes sophistication. The design team introduced a sense of domesticity to the workplace, promoting communication and teamwork with a mix of formal and informal open spaces, retreats, and collaboration areas. The result is a unique office environment that stands out from the crowd.
The realization of this design involved careful planning and execution. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a floating reception island that gives off an outstanding infinity illusion. The corporate logo is prominently displayed against a background of gradient blue shades, creating a dynamic statement. The curvy lines of the floor complement the ceiling design, creating a sense of seamless circulation throughout the space. Different flooring and finishes are used to effectively segregate zones without the need for physical dividers.
The design team took a strategic approach to the office layout, placing the Head of Department section in the center for easy access to different stations and resources. The use of natural daylight along the perimeter window creates a bright and airy atmosphere. Indoor greenery serves as a pleasing visual element, a privacy divider, and a storage space. The selection of furniture and fittings, including rounded lightings and stools, fits into the overall theme and achieves visual cohesiveness.
The project, which started in February 2020 and finished in August 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, presented a well-rounded solution for the client, reflecting their professional brand identity. Despite the challenges of infusing urban working culture with innovative design elements, the design team successfully created a space that speaks to the company’s professionalism, values, and image. This innovative approach to office design earned Hannover Re the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022.
